Performances
Odd Future In the UK
Odd Future has been across the pond for the last few weeks. First video is footage from a concert in Camden that had me thinking Odd Future may be the west-coast's long awaited answer to Wu-Tang. Just watch the chaos, raw energy, and dare I say ruckus.... that this crew ignites. Tyler all ski masked up, almost gets mauled by fans rushing the stage.
Below is a more reserved showing from Tyler and Hodgy Beats for BBC Radio as they perform Analog.
Childish Gambino - Live in Solana Beach CA
(Live performance of Freaks and Geeks. My apologies for the low-quality cell-phone footage)
For nearly two weeks now Donald Glover has been on a nationwide tour doing his thing, mixing stand-up, sketch comedy, and hip-hop as a platform to showcase his abilities as an entertainer. The comedy set alone was worth the ticket price but as the first act ended the real show began. As one of the most creative and hilarious actors out there today, many find it odd that he has dipped into the hip-hop game. Even stranger is the fact that he has improved to the point of contender with his work as Childish Gambino. His lyrics often blur between serious and punchline but are witty beyond what most rappers are capable of. He has trained his voice, improved his singing, and conquered a variety of flows. If this were three years ago, that description would come awfully close to a TV actor turned rapper named Drake who would blow up to be one of the biggest names in hip-hop. Who knows where Glover's abilities will take him, but after tonight's convincing performance it's safe to say the sky is the limit for this young star.
